Meet Baxter the Beagle
Sorry for the lack of posts everyone - but life has been in full swing lately, however I did want to share a picture of our new little chewing friend Baxter. We just got him on Sunday Dec. 10th and he's pretty cool. I just hope he doesn't develop a taste for Home Theatre cords...

Yet another Grey's Anatomy post
So last week it broke that T.R. Knight - the guy who plays Dr. George O'Malley on Grey's is gay.
I love how from zero to 100 the rest of the media went with this 'story'...
Am I the only on who doesn't care? I mean what's the big deal? Will it change how you enjoy his acting? Will it change the show?
I'm guessing no right?
It's kinda like the whole Paris Hilton thingy... I think everyone is sick of her - EXCEPT the media (yes I've been guilty of it too) who THINK you LOVE to hear about her. Not hot.

Now if you wanna talk about a good Grey's story... let's talk about how they don't play the theme music anymore!
Or that T.R. Knight was on Sesame Street as Private "I" this year!

Oh, and for all the ladies that e-mailed me, asking about who my best friend was that was very 'George' like (see post bellow) sorry he's taken now :)

Thursdays are sooooo GREY
As in GREYAT! Okay I don't know about you but I'm totally hooked on ABC's Grey's Anatomy!
A few months ago I picked up season 1 on DVD (which is the ONLY way I can watch a TV show... Other than my girlfriend Andrea) I can't commit to ANYTHING in my life)
Then we HAD to run out and get season 2... Before we knew it we were skipping supper to watch McDeamy while eating McDonalds. That was a MCMistake. Ack.Anyways I've never EVER watched ANY hospital show ever (Doogie Howser, M.D." doesn't count) but Grey's is great. My favorite character has got to be George. In fact he reminds me so much of my best friend, who (wait for it) is ALSO a Doctor! I don't think he's slept with Meredith thou...

Troy Scott 2.0
Well that was an interesting few weeks wasn't it? I got soooooo many calls asking: 'Are you fired?', 'What's with the change to Q?', 'Where's Beau, Tom and Dez', 'Are you going to be playing Country Music?', 'How do I use a Pressure Cooker?'

I EVEN got a call from the guy I buy my suits from... or that could have been Tony Danza, I'm not sure yet...
ANYWAYS I'm proud to be a BIG part of the NEW Q-94 FM! I got myself a new title too! 'Entertainment Correspondent' and I'm told I'm going to be doing it 24/7... So while I check out my contract and several labour laws - please join the hundreds of thousands of Winnipeggers and check out the NEW Q-94 FM! LISTEN LIVE HERE

Oh and if you wanna know how to use that Pressure Cooker click here.

How I spent my summer vacation...
Yes the graphic you see is correct. I watched a full 2 seasons of MOONLIGHTING. Sure I did get to catch up with my friends, played a game of golf... Which will never EVER happen again, read some books, got some sun, then got too much sun... Which lead me too Moonlighting... The TV show. WHAT?! You don't know what it's like! I HAVE WATCHED EVERYTHING. So it was either Moonlighting or 'the Flash' TV show... Easy choice.
Plus now I can sum up the whole series in just one sentence:
Door slamming.
It's good to be back at work, where nothing changes.... right?

I did stuff in May...
Hello everyone! Once again I've failed to do anything with my blog for a whole month! WOW this is just like the time I left my essay on procrastination till the last minute... that didn't turn out well either... in fact - I still have to finish it.
Anyways I WILL try to TRY and do better this time. However in my defence - May was pretty crazy:
I went to like EVERY event @ the Winnipeg Wine Fest (the wine stomp is still my fave)
I got to interview tons of great bands like: INXS, The Suits XL, Ben Lee, Amanda Stott... and many many more.
Helped out Dez @ Breastfest in support of the Weekend to End Breast Cancer... I can't tell you how proud Q-94 FM is to be the official sponsor of this!
Hosting the Teddy Bears Picnic (no one liked my Swipper impersonation from Dora the Explorer - but I did get my Teddy Ruxpin fixed!)
Helped out our sister station Citytv for their 2nd annual Big Hug (we raised over 50,000 GRAND) All and all May was a ton of fuzzy memories for myself. I even got to cut my lawn! (Once)

Oh yeah went to one or 5 five weddings, and became a Godparent :)
In the pix bellow you can see that the bags under my eyes are worse than Vince Vaughn's...

As for June... well it's going to be even more fun! I get to go the MUCH Music Video Awards and finally have it out FACE TO FACE with PARIS HILTON - and host Kidstock for the 2nd year in a row. Plus I might be back on Falcon Beach this season....

Spring is the new Summer
I am LOVING this weather! It's like all of us Winnipeg'ers have been saving up weather credits for the last 3 years of crummy summers and freezing winters and are now FINALLY cashing them in for a short mild winter and (let's cross our fingers) a LOOONG HOT SUMMER!
In an act of total defiance I've already put away ALL my winter threads! That's right - usually an act like that would land us all in a snow storm within seconds, but for some reason I really think I can get away with it this year! (okay now that I've written it - I'm scared... I've never dared to write it out... in ARAIL FONT!!! If you need me I'll be under my bed with the furnace cranked till July)

Troy Scott juggles fire @ the Forks
Juggling fire is something I did not want to do. Ever. I know what I'm capable of and that's something not on the list. Naming all 7 Police Academy movies is my idea of living dangerous.
Easter Sunday. Perfect day in Winnipeg, I head out to the Forks to do what all Winnipegger’s love to do in the spring... look at the river. On our way we got a little to close to a 'Busk Stop' and I was called on to juggle a flaming torch.

Dan of 'the Dan Show' (can't bash the name now, can I?) called me over to juggle a torch with another volunteer... an a American... Now I'm fearing for my life... well that's a little extreme... I was worried about my hair product - I think it said NON-Flammable right?
Long story short, I did it, no one got hurt, I'm outta here. BUT WAIT! Part II of the show! I had to hold up the 113 pound Dan while HE juggled 5 flaming torches! I still don't know how he did it, but he really pulled it off! Great show - if you see him at the Forks sit and watch his show. Funny guy too. I just wish I could have seen it. Oh well - back to the burn ward for me. Oh by the way, the river is still there. You just can't leave the house can you?

This Easter grab some PEEPS!
Okay this is a PSA in honour of my old Rez roommate from M.S.U.... This Easter when you’re biting into your Mr. Solid and or Garfield/Ice Age/Shrek/Sponge Bob/Superman/Spider-man/Jem and the Holograms hollowed out Chocolate themed Easter mold - I want you to consider eating a Peep! No don't go all Dr. Lector on your pal - eat a MARSHMALLOW PEEP!

I know - I never ate them either until I went to the States for University... they love'em down there (just like us Canadians love our fry sauce! Or at least that’s what Americans TELL ME that we like that...) Where was I going with this? Oh yeah... Justin my old Rez roommate from Crane Hall! Yeah he loved his Peeps (Marshmallow ones anyways) He ate like 10 thousand of them our Easter breaks back in the day. I was eating my Mr. Solid as per normal and after I watched him eat the 1st 34 dozen boxes I finally asked him for one. It was like eating some kinda of mutant hybrid of a Marshmallow and Styrofoam. SO! Now that I've sold you on da Peeps, go buy some! Or better yet take a page from the book of my old roommate: Wait till the day after Easter and buy a million of them @ Wal-Mart for like 12 cents.
ENJOY!
Happy Easter Everyone! Err wait.... sigh. I mean HOPPY Easter Everyone!

Little Known Peeps Facts:

In the 1950’s it took 27 HOURS to make one PEEPS Chick. Today is takes six minutes.

Peeps are so popular; they have been the best selling NON-chocolate Easter candy for the last decade! (Wait aren’t they the ONLY NON-chocolate Easter candy?!)

SPRRRRING BREAK REEEEEEEEEEEEPORT!
Ahhh good to back in Winnipeg! The snow is gone, the birds are singing, and the Street Cleaner machines are racing the Pot Hole trucks. All is well.
I took off for a week to recharge in the country. Oh and by 'recharge' I mean going out on the road to get into wacky spring breakish situations!! Like going to some killer parties, solves some mysteries, and prank the Dean of some snob university. In other words 'good times'.
Cool huh?
Weeeeell about 2 days in I came to the conclusion that:
a) All my friends in the country have left... ten years ago. (The same time I did)
b) The RCMP kinda take offence when people who aren't police officers try and solve crimes. (With the help of their Cat)
c) I don't know a University Dean anymore. I know a Dean Legault... but it's not really the same.
So other than that - I had a typical Spring Break. Now I'm counting down for GOOOOOOOOOOOD FRIDAY!! I'm sure I'll find a Dean by then!

The War on Cancer battle report:
Last week I found myself broadcasting live @ Portage Place Edmonton Court (where the time is always 11:58... according to big clock tower) Q-94 and our sister Station 99.9 BOB FM kicked off the 1st annual First Flower of Hope - in FULL support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
We had a 2 story giant plastic daffodil and thru the course of the week - we had to fill it with yellow 'Bud Balls' @ 5 bucks a pop. The brainchild of CHUM Radio’s Chris Brooke. (above with me on the right)So it was kinda like our Christmas Miracle - only fighting Cancer.

I had the chance to talk and more importantly learn/inform all about Cancer from all kinds of great people who volunteer or work for the Canadian Cancer Society. These people know their stuff big time! I talked to a Doctor/Professor/the smartest guy I've ever met period - and asked him point blank: "So Doc... how long till we REALLY beat this thing?" He paused - and you could see the wheels in his massive brain turning..."about 20 years for sure, then yep we'll have gotten it all." Trust me if you heard the interview or know this guy you'd believe him too! I also got to meet all kinds of brave people and children who have kicked the hell out of Cancer and now help the CCS. True heroes. Positive people who were all against the odds of living but said NO WAY. I wish everyone could have met them.

It was a wonderful inspiriting week and it was an honour to be apart of the 1st of many (well hopefully not to many more) First Flower of Hope. We beat our goal - filled the daffodil and made a huge smoking dent into Cancer. Thanks to all who donated and came down or called me up.

Revenge of the Past
Ahh the fuzzy memories of a time not so long ago. Good thing for videotape! One of my best friends Donovan Yaciuk was digging thru his VHS/BetaMax archive today and found something that should have been destroyed on site. A film starring some of Winnipeg's most creative talents today... Cabin Massacre III (there was no part I or II... we just liked the idea of a lazy trilogy) Starring in alphabetical order:

Big Marv Timog(Hot 103/QX104)
Cherie Menzies (Q-94 FM/99.9 BOB FM/1290 CFRW)
Darcy Taves (Q-94 FM)
Donovan Yaciuk (Comic Book artist for DC/Marvel/Dark Horse)
Troy Scott (Q-94 FM)

While the filming location of this 'movie' will forever remain a secret, the plot is pretty common of all the "who done it" types:
I played Lance Thorpe the 3rd - a clueless super rich drunk who takes his pal Wang Chung (Big Marv - heir to the Chung computer empire oh and he has a robotic hand that plays music - for no reason whatsoever) and his extremely promiscuous girlfriend Tyler (Cherie) out to ONE of his father's haunted cabins. On the way the group stops at a local bar and meets Clint Clant (Donovan) a country singer who wants to become a hip-hop sensation and has the platinum blonde hair to prove it. The group also picks up a mysterious stranger (Darcy) who periodically changes his name and carries a loaded handgun. Long story short - we all get killed - save one. I don't want to ruin the ending for you... mostly because I can't remember it. However if it shows up online - BE WARNED. It's WORSE than the Star Wars Holiday Special. Sigh... I'm glad the casting people at Falcon Beach didn't see this.

Troy Scott VS Canadian Idol
Well the Canadian Idol Auditions took place over the weekend at Portage Place... and I was there too (in neutral gang colors) however the real show wasn't seen at all. Last Friday, the Idol crew staged something called "Media Idol" @ CKY/CTV Studios in Polo Park - all media outlets were invited down to 'experience what Idol hopeful goes thru" in front of the Judges and everything! Now I'm no singer. In fact NO ONE in the media is a good singer. However in the spirit of charity I took a shot at it. Now... what to sing... Well it came to me pretty easy. The Chip and Dales Rescue Rangers theme song! (plus it was the only song I knew all the words to... well okay maybe not...Ducktales, Darkwing Duck, Talespin, OKAY any song from the Disney Afternoon was up for singing) I belted it out and got a ton of laughs from everyone (thank god) and then got a bit of a blast from Simon...err Zack - yeah that's it: "I really want to thank you for being so annoying, " he told me after I had a comedic style but no way could I sing. I agreed. But MAN did it feel great singing that SONG! Thanks to everyone who came out to Portage Place and told me they liked my choice of toon too! Heh. Tune...Toon...

In the end SHAW TV took the Media Idol crown and by crown I mean a over sized novelty $1000 cheque from CTV. The one thing I was surprised by was - how many of the other media people took it so seriously! One girl from 100.7 FM froze completely and almost ran for it... she should have - now that would have been funny.

You can check out the mini summary on CTV's Idol website by clicking here.

I also got a chance to interview Mr. Orange himself - Ben Mulroney. He told me his tan was from L.A. I was thinking more like San Fran's Golden Gate Bridge... He's the SAME COLOR!!! If you didn't hear it on Q my interview with Ben will be on Speakfreewithjb.com soon.
If you wanna re-live the Chip n' Dales Rescue Rangers Theme click here (MP3)
